Winston Oh Travelogue Alumni Grants

The McNally School of Fine Arts recognises the importance in supporting our alumni by providing a funding infrastructure that will empower them to be actively engaged in one or more of the following endeavours:

  • Sustaining research and practice knowledge
  • Encouraging production of, presentation of and participation in the arts
  • Networking and professional development

 

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Alumni who have graduated for a period of no more than 3 years at the point of application
  • The eligible candidate can also be a graduating student who is in the process of completing his or her studies at LASALLE within a period of six months or less
  • Part-time staff at LASALLE who are alumni from McNally School of Fine Arts (MSoFA) may also apply for certain grants

Traditional Craft Residency

This residency is open to MSoFA alumni who are interested in learning and studying traditional craft and/or practices to support their art practice. Alumni are expected to research and work with groups within the area to enhance their learning experience. The current residency offered is at Yogyakarta. Only one alumni can attend the residency at any one point of time. The funding commensurates with the duration of residency.

Fieldwork Research

This grant is open to MSoFA alumni, and alumni from other Schools/Faculties who intend to collaborate with Fine Arts graduates. (Eligibility criteria applies for all alumni.) This grant is awarded to alumni who intend to pursue fieldwork on specific research topics where preliminary work on the topic has commenced. Independent research will be considered if the requirements are fulfilled. This Grant supports fieldwork research within Southeast Asia/Asia Pacific; primarily travel and documentation-related costs.

The grant is not to be used to support current thesis dissertations, production of publications, exhibitions or other forms of presentation, and activities unrelated to the research. The researcher should not be receiving other funding by other parties without prior consent from LASALLE College of the Arts.

Social Entrepreneurship For Artist (SEFA)

MSoFA initiated the Social Entrepreneurship for Artist (SEFA) and partnered with The Singapore Centre for Social Enterprise (raiSE) to provide training opportunities for alumni who aspire to be social entrepreneurs and are willing to undergo training programmes at raiSE and internship with one of the social enterprises (SE) under the raiSE network of SEs.

Winstedt Campus Residency

MSoFA welcomes proposals by alumni and part-time lecturers to work closely with staff and/or students at the Winstedt campus through the conducting of relevant workshops, talks or exhibitions during the period of the residency from February to June 2020.

You may apply as an individual or a small collective and should have a clear proposal on how you intend to work with the staff and/or students. As a resident artist, the Programme Leader will work with you on your intended plans for the duration and you may have access to some of the facilities at the Winstedt campus, such as the Praxis Workspace at A107, Sculpture Workshop and Printing Room subject to the opening hours of the campus and the facilities. Also, you are required to give artist talks/workshops (2-3 days) to other programs.

This grant will go towards supporting the resident for the research costs and materials intended for this residency. Do note that besides the use of studio space and facilities, the programme may support the residents for loans of equipment from Facilities and ICT division (subject to availability).

Senior Alumni Exhibition

The successful candidate has to work with Fine Arts students from either Diploma, Bachelor's Degree and/or Master's degree programme to formally organise an exhibition showcasing works in the areas including, but not limited to ceramics, drawing, painting, photography, performance art and video art, etc, at allocated exhibition space in Basement B108 (McNally Campus) titled WALKWAY (ART SPACE).
